Wildly inappropriate: Turner on article on Priyanka and Nick wedding
Priyanka and Nick wedding, Actress Priyanka Chopra’s future sister-in-law Sophie Turner on Wednesday called a US magazine’s article “wildly inappropriate and totally disgusting” for calling Priyanka a “global scam artist” for marrying Nick Jonas. “Very disappointed that The Cut would give anyone a platform to spew such bullshit,” Turner said. Actresses Sonam Ahuja and Swara Bhasker also criticised the now-deleted article.
Turner, 22, took to Twitter in the hours after the article was first shared to brand the controversial feature ‘wildly inappropriate and totally disgusting’, while voicing her horror that ‘The Cut would give anyone a platform to spew such bull***t’.
The British-born actress, who attended Jonas and 36-year-old Chopra’s wedding celebrations in India, was just one of thousands of people who pointed out the article’s sexist and racist tropes.
Nick Jonas, the youngest member of the band the Jonas Brothers, and Chopra married over the weekend, hosting both Hindu and Christian ceremonies in Jodhpur, as well as a series of lavish celebrations with their closest friends and family.
Charges leveled at Chopra, a Bollywood actor currently starring in the TV series Quantico, in the piece – which was headlined ‘Is Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s Love for Real?’ – include being a ‘modern-day scam artist’, tricking Jonas into a ‘fraudulent relationship against his will’ and ‘thriving on being extra’ i.e. excessively dramatic.
Joe Jonas joined his fiancee in voicing disgust at the piece, writing on his own Twitter account: ‘This is disgusting. @TheCut should be ashamed to have someone write such evil words. What Nick & Pri have is Beautiful Love. Thank u, Next.’
