I’m unable to take up the FTII chairman post: Gulshan Grover
FTII chairman post, Gulshan Grover has said that he is unable to take up the post of the chairman of Film and Television Institute of India [FTII], after Anupam Kher’s resignation. Gulshan is planning to produce films with his son Sanjay Grover which is the main reason behind him not accepting the post of chairman, suggested reports. Anupam had resigned on October 31.
According to the report, prior work commitments are being cited as the main reason for Grover not accepting the post. “Yes, I’m unable to take this up. I would have loved to be of service to the future generations of cinema and I truly stand behind what the FTII believes in and stands for,” Grover told DNA.
Meanwhile, Grover’s son, Sanjay Grover, has returned to India after a stint in Hollywood. The father-son duo plan on producing movies and this may also be one of the reasons for Gulshan Grover declining the FTII’s prestigious offer. The meeting to select the next Chairman is scheduled for December 18, 2018.
At the time of his exit, Anupam Kher had said, “It’s a great institution, but it needs somebody who can give it a little more time.” He was appointed as the Chairman of FTII in October 2017. His appointment came after his predecessor, Gajendra Chauhan, faced massive protests during his tenure.
